Strava - Redesign
2024
Timeline
Role
Context
As a regular user of the Strava application, I've noticed that certain aspects of the experience and interface can sometimes be confusing and frustrating. After this initial observation, I decided to share my thoughts with users close to me to check that my point of view was shared. After several informal discussions, it seemed clear that they were making the same observation as me, namely that the features highlighted were not those most frequently used, and that the user path and interface were too complex, making it difficult to access the information or features sought.
With this in mind, I decided to propose a redesign of the application to address these issues.
Goals
The goal of this redesign is to offer an experience that highlights the most frequently used functionalities, to make use more fluid and efficient. We should also think about simplifying the interface so that users can navigate easily and find what they're looking for quickly.
Colors
The colors used are close to those of the original application, with several neutral colors, dedicated colors for performance icons and brand colors.
Typography
I used the Poppins typeface, whose geometry helps to represent the balance that is essential for sports. Its almost exclusive use of italics represents movement. The choice of high weights makes for easy reading and a sense of clarity for the user.
Iconography
I reworked the icons, particularly the activity icons, to give them a more human touch. As for the performance icon, I based it on the original application logo.
